Craig is the Cofounder, Chief Operations Officer, and Senior Vice President of Santa Maria & Company, responsible for overseeing the relationship with a select group of insurance carriers, the establishment of new business relationships with strategic professional advisors and the counseling of the firm's diverse clientele.
As a founder of Santa Maria & Co., Craig has overseen the growth of the firm since its inception to its well-earned reputation for providing the highest quality of service with the greatest integrity. He oversees SMC's client focused middle-market companies including, those operating in Hospitality, Assisted Living, Construction, Staffing and the Healthcare industries.
Prior to founding SMC, Craig served in executive capacities with major insurance companies, organizing, managing and marketing to Fortune 1000 companies. Utilizing his skills honed upon entering the industry after college graduation, Craig developed expertise in alternative risk finance, coverage analysis, and designing cash flow programs for clients. Craig began his financial services career at a large Regional Insurance Carrier, developing an expertise in risk management for California's Workers Compensation issues.
An alumnus of the University of California at Irvine, Craig is a member of several executive groups. He provides expert witness services in connection with complex liability cases, and is called on by the Contra Costa Times and other local media for commentary of risk management matters.
Craig is also very active in his community, where he coaches a number of children’s sports teams, including San Ramon Valley Little League and Mustang Soccer. Craig and his wife Victoria, the head of SMC’s claims advocacy, have two children and are residents of Danville, California.
