Ed serves as the Senior Vice President-Sales and Marketing of Santa Maria & Company. Joining SMC in 2006, Ed has been instrumental in building the Firm into one of the region's premier risk management and solution advisors. Ed has served as an Advisor to Boards of Directors, Chief Executives and senior management of numerous firms throughout the state of California. Focusing on cost containment analysis and control, Ed has 25 years industry experience. He is responsible for SMC's sales and marketing efforts. In directing the establishment of SMC's reputation in providing superior service, and has advised clients involved in more than $10 million in claims savings for damage recovery.
Ed provides guidance to the Firm's clients operating in the moving and storage, property management, public transportation, and the construction industry. The firm's clients call upon him to perform a stringent analysis through the use of the SMR Analysis (proprietary methodology) to determine special and unique coverage and risk management programs
Recognized for his extensive knowledge of claims handling and expense, Mr. Schumann began his career in San Francisco working for Insurance Company of North America as a property and liability claims adjuster. He has focused on California businesses that have demonstrated improvements in our way of life. This includes 25 or more companies which have renovated downtown projects, worked with downtown schools on music programs, been involved with training displaced workers, and providing care and training to the elderly and disabled.
A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley where he attended on an Athletic Scholarship, Ed has taken an active leadership role in the community, serving as the President of the Livermore Valley Rotary Club, President of Messiah Lutheran Church and President of Construction Craft Training Center. He is a member of the California Bear Backers Fund Raising Committee, California Alumni Association and the Sigma Chi "Alpha Beta" Fraternity. Ed is married with two children and resides in Alamo, California.
